On Wednesday June 16, the Nacra 2010 International Championship crowned its new champions. The final two races were sailed in wild conditions off the Texel beach in the Netherlands, which caused lots of capsizes and an exciting battle for the remaining competitors. Gunnar Larsen and Jeroen van Leeuwen pushed the accelerator once more and won the Infusion title with a nine points lead. Day two of the Nacra 2010 International Championship was sailed in challenging conditions along the Texel coast in the Netherlands. The northern breeze had an average strength of 15-16 knots, gusting up to 18-22 knots, and there was a big swell. The overall leaders in the Nacra Infusion class, Gunnar Larsen and Jeroen van Leeuwen (NED), extended their lead. The flying Dutchmen Gunnar Larsen and Jeroen van Leeuwen are on fire. They know how to handle the big swell and breeze. They took both bullets this morning. “It’s about mind set”, commented Larsen during the lunch break. “It seemed to be blowing, but in reality the wind was not that strong. On Monday June 14, the Nacra 2010 International Championship started in building conditions. The racing commenced in 5-8 knots of breeze and in the afternoon it picked up to about 15 knots. A total of 62 Nacra catamarans, representing nine countries, lined up for the first event of the 2010 Zwitserleven Sailing Week.
